'Fast' Food
HC came back and I shared with him on what his princess commented last night and he gave me a great idea! He told me to prepare sandwiches for dinner at times for the kids, not necessary that every dinner must be 1 soup, 1 veg and 1 meat. I can even consider susages or hot dogs he said. He is really right! With this in mind, I am less stress and our princess fav. is sandwich with egg mayo and cucumber. She will be happier when she gets to peel the eggs and cut the cucumber by herself! Now I can sleep in peace now.

Haha, dun worry la, once u r gd with cooking, u get things done in less then an hr! Also, at time can cook simple dishes, eg fried eggs, boiled veg, prepare to cook soup earlier (prepare while she in school, then turn on fire later so u cut down preparation time). Get a slow cooker if you really want prepare soup more often, help u save some time. Don’t have to do elaborate cooking all the time la!
I have a recipe for sandwich:
1) White bread (cut away the side "skin")
2) Seaweed (u know those jap dry dry type?)
3) jap mayonnaise (u can find in the mayonnaise shelving), this type is more yellowish and can squeeze out from the bottle
4) jap cucumber (longer then the usu cucumber and the skin is more green)
5) Sausages, crab sticks, etc what ever ingredients that prince and princess like
This is like making sushi just that the replacement for the rice is bread (easier to do)
a) Boil the sausages, crabstick and cut into long slices (length of the square seaweed)
b) Cut the cucumber into long slices (length of the square seaweed)
c) Place the bread on top of seaweed (seaweed comes in packet and in squares, so cut bread to this shape as well)
d) Place ingredients on bread
e) Squeeze some mayonnaise
f) Roll the bread like you would roll a sushi
TA DAH! You just made a “bread sushi”! The kids can do it with you and roll the bread themselves! Ingredients is really up to u.
Try it and have some fun!
3 more ideas for you:
1) just buy the dishes from cai fan stall, cook your own rice (and soup), and just heat up the dishes.
2) cook those 1 pot dish (e.g chicken/beef/pork stew with potatoes, carrots). this can be done while the kids are in school and just heat up and add broccoli/cauliflower in the evening.
3) yong tau fu soup. add kway teow/ noodles in the evening.
there are many ways to make your life simpler!
thanks gals, will keep these in mind and hopefully I can drop some cooking time for playtime!
