A Brother's Love

This evening, YS is jealous of JH because I am carrying him for a longer time than her... Just for this reason she tried to walk away from us twice... During the 2nd time that YS is running away, JH went after her and wrapped her from her back. While half carrying and dragging YS to us, 弟弟 has 2 hard bites from her! JH did not let go until they reached us. Then he came to me and wept softly... JH will only give this sort of cry when he feels 委屈. Both hc and I can see how much 弟弟loves 姐姐from this incident. We are both very touch by this little boy...

While walking back home, I ignored YS' tantrums and carried JH home as he is already very tired. Below is our conversation:

ME: Why did you run after 姐姐?
JH: Because 姐姐 is running away, later bad guy catch.
ME: Why don't want bad guy catch 姐姐?
JH: I love 姐姐.
ME: Can I tell 姐姐 what you just told me?
JH: No, later 姐姐 scolds me.

From this I realise how sensible JH is, how much he loves YS but also afraid of her. I am aware that many times YS is bossing him around and also many a times JH gives in to her. This incident has really let me see the other side of my boy.

Daddy...

Within 3 days I dreamt of daddy twice. First dream was messy but the best part was I managed to remember that I asked him if he is happy now... His answer is 'Yes'... I am so happy and relieved... It is ok not to know the content of the dream at all... So long he is happy now.

Last night he came into my dream again... this time I couldn't remember a single bit of the dream, just knew that he was there. In the morning there was this fat bird (hokkein the breed is called 'ka leng') stood right on my kitchen's window. It was calling loudly... I was bz cleaning up the house but as I went near to the window it flew away. I continued with my work and I was in my room that I heard the loud calling from a bird like the previous one at the kitchen again... I just wonder... Daddy, is that you?

Foreign 'Talents'

I was at IMM this morning and at a Super Market there. At the cashier, the uncle infront of me was having some communication problem with a Chinese cashier. He seeked for my help after even talking Hokkein to her, her face was straight... No sign of urgency to help her customer. Uncle doesn't speak Chinese but English you see.

After finally getting the cashier to understand what the uncle wanted, he turned to me and said, "Don't understand why they hire these foreigners whom cannot communicate with us!". I don't know what came into me but I told him 'Wait till you go to the hospitals... My parents had communication problem with nurses! whom don't speak dialag or Chinese.' I guess uncle will have no problem since he speaks Enlish... I don't mean to curse him.

Two in One

Found a T-shirt that belongs to hc with a GL size! Don't think he will wear that out in the streets so decided to hand it over to the kids.

This T actually makes the kids learn how to coorporate with each other when 'tied' together. It is so funny watching them moving around and YS trying to 'boss' JH around. ha ha... and she keeps falling on top of him! I am glad she is behind him because 弟弟is bigger than her!

Korea's Grapes

Bought these at a special price for the family to try. My first try is I don't really like the champagne taste of it but when hc said it actually tastes like the gummy sweets in grapes flavour I just can't stop eating. The kids love them as well and they keep requesting me to buy again. Well, they have to wait for a special offer again.

You Never Know until You Try...

I bought a dress from the boutique whose name starts with 'E' last week as a present for myself. I thought I can wear it on Saturday but when I put it on it was too small. Oops! Did I put on some weight after only a few days or did I get the wrong size. I was rather upset as I have already cut the tag, ironed it and receipt destroyed too. I have the feeling that there is no way I can get it exchanged.

Today, I was uncertain to try to bring back the dress for an exchange... I braced up myself and told myself 'No harm trying... What is the worst? Come home with the original loh, maybe I can lost some weight then put it on again. SO I put it back to the bag and went back to the boutique.

I went to the boutique, looked for the sales guy whom attended to me. I told him the whole story about buying, cut the tag, destroyed the receipt and ironed it but it is too small! He spoke to the manager and she agreed. I am so touched... I went to the lady and thanked her as I told her I knew that the norm is no exchange can be done without receipt and with the tag cut. Oh... I am so happy... Now I can wear the dress and not chuck it into a corner of my wardrobe! Yippee... And I am rather grateful to the boutique manager for allowing the exchange!

Mrs Lee...

This morning I have been addressed as 'Mrs Lee' or 'Teacher' by a group of Sec 1 students. It is an exciting assignment for me to be a assistant trainer for a IT training agency. I woke up at 530am as I need to be in school by 730 am. A walk to the MRT station was great because the weather was good and it was a very refreshing moment for me...

I have been a trainer to adults in my ex-company but never Sec students. It is a fresh encounter to me and infact I enjoyed the session with them though there are a few mischevious kids. To me it's either they already knew the software or they are not bothered with a non-exam subject. I am glad it is a non-exam subject too because the pressure will be lesser on us the trainers. ;)

Tomorrow will be my last day of assignment and I will end with a lunch with my ex-colleagues again like today. Yippee...

My Birthday...

I spent my birthday very differently this year. I didn't get to be with my kids or husband for any celebration nor was there any. I didn't feel upset, disappointed or unhappy... Instead I am happy on how I spent that special day...

Early morning, hc and I sent the kids to school (normally I would be at home) then hc and I went for breakfast. I told the kids, yes that day is mummy's birthday but mummy has a class at night and thus not able to be with them. No whining from anyone, they accept the fact. Phew...

After breackfast I went to visit my mum. Though I didn't manage to get her to go out of her comfort zone to move around, I can see she is very happy to see me. So I hang around with her for the rest of the morning... Wanted to give her a treat for lunch, she is not willing to move out at all. Well, at least I spent a morning with her.

In the afternoon, I headed for Seng Kang to get myself ready for our last session of a parenting course for the night. The class is suppose to prepare some food for a farewell potluck for the session. Spent my time with TLian and her 2 kids and I can see the kids love to play with me... So funny right, on my birthday I didn't get to spend time with my kids but a friend's but no big deal! The important thing is everyone is happy. I'm surprised I didn't sulk but I enjoy every moment of my time with TLian and family.

After dinner is the class... Wow... I didn't realise I am very tired... till I wasn't able to think properly in class and not able to answer simple questions and the usual thing like how do I feel after the course to the teacher... I simply said TLian has answered for me. I can see my friend is shocked for me to say that... Well, the night stretched and after lesson we stayed behind and chatted with the teacher... ha, ha... still claimed I am tired right... The class usually ends at 9 pm but we only left near 10 that night!

This is not the end... We went Jalan Kayu for my favourite prata... We went there but I didn't had any food because I am seriously over stretched... I have no appetite but I am just enjoying my drink of coconut and the company of HC, RL and TLian. I have always enjoy their company since I know them!

Near 12 am then we really got going... Ha, ha... I told HC please give me some rest time till tomorrow morning... I really needed a good rest. So yes! I am given the privilege to rest since we got home till the next day morning! HC got the kids ready to school without much of my help and I woke up feeling refreshed after everyone has left home.... Thank you 老公。。。 And when I got home, HC gave me a surprise with a tiny cake... I thought no cake for me this year! ha ha... still, my HC remembers... (no pix of the tiny cake bcos I am too tired to give it a shot!)

Though this birthday there is no special way of celebrating it but I enjoy every moment of it... Even though I am already very very very exhausted by evening...

Daddy...

Last year this time, daddy was still around... I still can remember the long corridor walk of the hospital to his ward. We were able to talk to each other and see each other at his ward but a year after I can only see daddy in my memory... I can't even reach his hands... My heartaches... A friend told me to concentrate on the living now, my mummy and my family... I try... but I can't help missing daddy...

Last afternoon, YS and I walked past the Soup Resturant and YS said 'Mummy we came to this place with Ah Gong and Ah Ma before.' I nodded my head and the next question my dear little girl popped, 'Are you going to cry?' I shaked my head... 'Are you sure you are not going to cry?' It seems that my dear little girl is aware that whenever at the mentioned of Ah Gong, mummy heartaches...

Who is In-charge?

Who is incharge of your life? To an adult like me, I AM INCHARGE! 加油! Life is not a bed of roses... Dark clouds will pass and there will be sunshine after a storm. Do you depend on others to cheer yourself up? I guess we tend to be influenced by others but we have to remind ourselves, we are incharge here and do we wanna waste our time on how others think or wanna spend their time? NO! Time will continue to tick no matter how we wish we can stop the clock. Continue to sulk, to whine and time will be wasted on these unconstructive actions!!!

Be the Master of your life.

'Fast' Food

HC came back and I shared with him on what his princess commented last night and he gave me a great idea! He told me to prepare sandwiches for dinner at times for the kids, not necessary that every dinner must be 1 soup, 1 veg and 1 meat. I can even consider susages or hot dogs he said. He is really right! With this in mind, I am less stress and our princess fav. is sandwich with egg mayo and cucumber. She will be happier when she gets to peel the eggs and cut the cucumber by herself! Now I can sleep in peace now.

Back to Work?

Last evening while our family were having dinner, YS asked me to go back to work... :( She said 'Mummy, I wanna go full day school. Every time I come back from school you are busy cooking and don't have time to play with me! I wanna play with my friends in school then!' Oh No... This is an alert to me... I am really spending lots of time in the kitchen that the kids are left to watch the tv pgms or play by themselves when I'm preparing my meals which normally I need 1 hr to get dinner ready not including washing up the dishes. I am GUILTY to her words, I feel bad but I am aware of this all this while.

So for today when YS came back from school I played with her and di di for 45 mins before I prepared dinner. Tonight, I put aside the dishes after dinner and played with them. Finally got to wash the dishes after they are in bed. Guess I really need to think of ways to cut down on the time I spent on my chores... If not, my princess is going to abandon me soon.

First Attempt

This is my first attempt to this new recipe that I got from Li Choo over a phone call a few days ago. I always ask her what she is cooking for her family whenever we call each other She is a mother of 3 and has stayed at home since her first delivery to her twins. Her twins are in P2 now so you can imagine for how long she has stayed at home!

I gave it a try and hc said 'it is very good!' - this is the kinda compliment that keeps me going to try new recipe for the family!

Ingredients
one chicken - chopped into pieces
a handful of wolf berries washed and soaked for a while
a handful of red dates
chinese wine
sesame oil
salt

Method
1) Marinate chicken with salt
2) Steam chicken with red dates
3) When chicken is cooked, add in wolf berries, chinese wine and sesame oil

ta da... It's done! Simple isn't it!

Thought for Today

"Allowing the truth of who you are—your spiritual self—to rule your life means you stop the struggle and learn to move with the flow of your life." —Oprah

How true... I learnt through the hard way but I am glad I am given a chance to grow, to shine. I see rainbow now... Eileen told me I'm the lighthouse of my household and with this in mind I perserve on... Now with my purpose in life, I am more focused and live life to the fullest.

West End Girl

I had never like my neighbourhood or the place that I stay in though I am almost staying here for almost 10 years. The reason that I give to people is I'm a person from the East. The air, water and people were much better, nicer and cleaner in the East.

Lately, I realise I have changed to accept this place. I have started to find the plus points of this place, to make the best out of it. Afterall, it is not so bad. I start to enjoy and the place that I'm staying in and also start to improve it.

It is me whom has changed I guess... Change in perception, change in my thoughts and improve the things that I have control in. The old me was to accept whatever that I have and sulk and complained in all the things I didn't like. Now I am a changed person, I choose to look at the positive side of things and I am in control. It is my life, my choice, my destiny. I only live once and I'm going to make the best out of this! Amen!

Dreams

Last evening, the kids and I were watching a movie of Strawberry Shortcake. I didn't watch it from the begining as I was preparing dinner. YS insisted mummy to watch with her because she is afraid of the 'bad guy'. I'm glad I didn't miss the last part... The message that it brought to me is 'Dreams do come true... Do it with love, Give it a little time and Believe in yourself.' So affirmative this is to Life.

I learnt from them

I learnt from my little ones and I am still learning from them everday. Being a SAHM has given me the opportunity to grow... The biggest lesson that I have learnt is FORGIVENESS. They are ever so forgiving. No matter how hard I've reprimanded them for their mistakes after their punishment they will continue to be nice to me.

Today when JH came back from preschool I had a full 30 mins of struggle to put him at the punish corner. I didn't give in to his beggings not to be put at the corner and cries. Sometimes I do feel that I am very hard on my kids. After 30 mins, he gave in and sat at the punish corner still crying away softly. After the whole episode, my little one is back to his usual self and started smiling again. Plus, he asked for his 2nd serving of milk after the first 240ml! For adults like me, I believe I cannot be like him after such an episode... I would still be sulking away if I were him with no appetite!

There is another good one from YS:
One afternoon days after my dad's funeral, the radio was on and a piece of slow song was broadcasted while the kids and I were playing. Suddenly, YS ran towards the radio and changed the station and I have never taught her how to change the channel. I asked her what happened? She said 'I don't want you to cry...' huh? I was confused then, I asked 'Why?'. She said 'The song sounds so sad...' I shared this with a close friend and she complimented that I have a smart kid, I should learn from her! She said 'YS understands that when one is unhappy just change the channel that is to change the unhappy thought to a happy one.' Sound so simple but I wasn't aware of this until YS demonstrated to me...

My dear daughter is a very sensitive girl. After seeing me being so upset over the lost of my daddy... Whenever she sees I am sad she will ask me 'Are you going to cry?'...

小白 is hurt once again... Heartache...

Ouch! It must have been painful... 小 白's body window is broken! For what reason no one knows, it is only found out by me after the buffet lunch yesterday. My heart aches again...

YS' Aunty

Introducing No.23! kidding... She is my daughter's aunty... at only in her thirteens... Too young to be a aunty right? but not her choice... hee...

Great Uncle

This is JH's GREAT uncle... Yes he is a fantastic uncle who likes to play with the younger kids but he is also great as in the seniority to my kids. Too young for a great uncle right? ; )

My Favourite Families...

Above is my favourite 'families' - these are my mil's side of families members... we have 2 missing sheep in this pix - it is not full force yet and it is still growing! They are warm and great people whom I ever get to know in my life. I'm blessed to be surrounded by them!
Yesterday is bb Ryan's 1 yr old birthday and this is a family shot that we took after a great buffet lunch for the relatives invited. Thanks to Shaoyang & Jolene and of course bb Ryan!

Opposites Attract?

Hmm... This morning when I was tuning into FM 100.3 the DJs were discussing if opposites attract really last? in terms of love... Apparently it has been realised that it is opposites that attract each other during courtship but when it comes to lifetime partners usually those who have similar characters, hobbies, styles... last happily ever after... How true is this? Well, to me nothing is impossible... It is up to the couples. Cheers!

Promise

I've looked under the Wikipedia for the word PROMISE and here is it's definition... "A promise (also called troth) is a psychological contract indicating a transaction between two persons whereby the first person undertakes in the future to render some service or gift to the second person or devotes something valuable now and here to his or her use. A promise may also refer to any kind of vow or guarantee."

What happened when a person said "I've over-estimated myself to the promise I've made..." Does that mean the person has broke the promise or he has even given up keeping to his promise?

Ah Lao aka My daddy

Ah Lao, I miss you very very very much... I always wonder if you are around me to see what is happening to your daughter whom you always say I'm the one you doted most. I wonder if you've been reborned? If yes, please please please let daddy has a better, happy and wonderful life ahead. 老爸我好想你哦。。。

The Revival of My Blog...

It has been a year since I last posted on this Blog of mine and I was too caught up with the happenings in my Life that I could not continue updating it. I've decied to 'pen' it down here and move on... There is a saying "Time heals..." My Struggles:

1) New role as a SAHM
2) Learn to cook proper meals
3) Time Management
4) My Daddy fell real ill
5) The Lost of My Beloved Daddy
6) Went through a minor procedure
7) Time spent liked a single mum due to hubby has lots of travels, luckily I can drive!
8) Change the kids from full day to 3/4 and half day pgms to my 2 little ones.
9) I've a new faith!

After looking at above list, it doesn't seem to be a long one but when I recalled the details of them... Wow... They can be overwhelming but I am proud to say I have conquered the obstacles in the list. Yeah! Whenever something 'big' shows up in my life I told myself 'Everything is gonna be ok....' That was what I was thinking when I was pushed into the surgery room without seeing my hubby and my 2 little ones before I got knock out. (They didn't make it in time to visit me as the procedure needed to be done as soon then).
